The Asia Cricket Council (ACC) Chief and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi refused to hand over the Asia Cup 2025 silverware to India. However, he has directed the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav to collect the trophy in person from the ACC office, according to a report published in Pakistani media.

Notably, India refused to collect the trophy from Naqvi amid India’s political tensions with Pakistan. Moreover, they requested the trophy to be handed over by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) vice chairman.

However, Mohsin Naqvi, after the conclusion of the presentation ceremony, left the podium with the Asia Cup trophy and medals to the hotel, which didn’t go down well with the BCCI and the Indian players.

Later, the BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia lashed out at Naqvi for his act of taking the trophy and medals to his hotel.

"We have decided not to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the senior leaders of Pakistan. That was a conscious decision," Saikia said.

"This does not give him the right to take the trophy and the medals with him. It is extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike. We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible," he stated.

Moreover, Pakistani media also reported that Naqvi rejected the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla’s repeated demands to hand over the trophy. Naqvi, however, responded by stating that the issue wasn’t part of the meeting’s agenda.

Moreover, the Pakistani media channel Geo Super, the BCCI officials, who attended the virtual ACC meeting, demanded that the trophy be transferred to the International Cricket Council (ICC) headquarters instead.

However, the ACC Chief stood on his stance of asking the Indian skipper to collect the trophy in person from the Asian Cricket Council’s office.
