Former South Africa batter Colin Ingram is set to feature in the fifth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The southpaw, who has scored over 7000 runs in T20 cricket, will play for Team Abu Dhabi. Recently, the franchise roped in star England women cricketer Sarah Taylor as the assistant coach for the 2021 edition. Taylor is regarded as one of the best women cricketers to have graced the game. She enjoyed a stellar career, with two 50-over World Cups and women’s 20-20 World Cup wins with England.
Speaking about the appointment of Taylor, Ingram said he is delighted to work with Taylor in the T10 League. “It’s absolutely fantastic to have Sarah Taylor as an assistant coach of Team Abu Dhabi. She was a wonderful player. Sarah is probably the most technically gifted wicketkeeper I have seen. I wish her all the best for a future in coaching,” said Colin Ingram in a virtual conference.
Ingram will play alongside some of the biggest names in international cricket, including the likes of Chris Gayle, Liam Livingstone and Paul Stirling. Ingram shed light on the composition of Team Abu Dhabi and said, We’ve got an extremely balanced squad, which is exciting. Dangerous batting up front with Paul Stirling and Chris Gayle and there are a number of other guys who can cause some damage. Naveen ul Haq is bowling really well at the moment and Marchant De Lange is a really exciting player.
Ingram further added that playing the T10 League will help him evolve his white ball game. “All the teams that I have been part of in the last ten years have been highly beneficial in developing my white ball game and allowing me to enjoy the cricket calendar. And the T10 is another new format, which has been really exciting and I have enjoyed massively,” the South African added.
The Abu Dhabi T10 League gets underway on November 19, with the final set to be played on December 4. All matches of the tournament will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
