England is facing Afghanistan in their tournament opener of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. English skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and asked the Afghan team to bat first at the turf of WACA in Perth. Batting first, the Afghanistan batting lineup crumbled down and couldnโ€™t survive against the English pace attack in the Australian conditions.

Englandโ€™s premier pacer Mark Wood has stunned everyone with his amazing bowling in the match against Afghanistan. Wood happened to deliver all 24 balls of his four-over spell over the speed of 140 kmph and he is the first and only bowler to accomplish this feat in the history of the 20-20 World Cup and T20i cricket ever.

The fans were also thrilled after seeing this excellent display of sheer pace and lethal pace from Mark Wood. They flooded Twitter with praises for the senior speedster. Notably, Wood has recently made his comeback after a long hiatus due to the injury.

Here's how fans reacted to the historic spell of Mark Wood:

Speaking of the ongoing match between England and Afghanistan, the English pace attack didnโ€™t give a single chance to the Afghan batter as Sam Curran scalped five wickets by conceding only 10 runs in his spell of 3.4 overs. Other than him, the historic man Mark Wood also scalped two wickets by conceding 24 runs in his quota of four overs. Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes also scalped two and one wickets, respectively.

On the backs of these brilliant performances, England has bundled Afghanistan up only on the score of 112 runs in 19.4 overs.

At the time, this news piece is being written, England has scored 13 runs in 1.4 overs having skipper Jos Buttler on 9 and Alex Hales on 1 there in the middle. England now needs just 100 runs in 18.2 overs to win their first match in the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup.
