Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been instrumental in CSK’s road to the final. Both players are leading the charts of most runs in the tournament. While Gaikwad claimed the Orange Cap with 635 runs, Faf is second on the list with 633 runs. He played a blistering knock of 86 in the final to put CSK into a great position.

Despite his magical run, Faf was not selected in the South Africa squad for the T20 International Cup. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has expressed surprise at Faf’s exclusion from the Proteas squad for the T20 International Cup. The cricketer-turned-expert took to Twitter and wrote, “Absolutely ridiculous how Faf will not be playing for South Africa in International T20 Cup.”

Meanwhile, Faf’s knock, supported by quickfire innings from Robin Uthappa ( 31), Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) and Moeen Ali (37) helped CSK post a daunting 192-3 in their 20 overs. In reply, KKR have got off to a blazing start and are 55-0 in 6 overs at the time of writing.

Coming back to South Africa, they are clubbed alongside England, Australia, West Indies and two qualifier teams in Group A and open their T20 International Cup campaign against Australia on 23rd October.
