On 27 June 2023, Ireland locked horns with United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 2023 ODI World Cup qualifier at Bulawayo. Both teams were already knocked out of the competition by losing their first three games respectively. So, both teams were looking to finish the tournament with a win in this clash.

Speaking of the match, UAE skipper, Muhammad Waseem won the toss and opted to bowl first. For Ireland, Paul Stirling and Andy McBrine came out to bat. It has been a horrible tournament so far for Stirling. In the first three matches, he scored 23, 0, and 6 runs. So, all eyes were on him when he came out to bat in this match.

Ireland scored 349 runs for four wickets in 50 overs

However, McBrine scored 24 runs off 28 balls, including three fours and one six as their first wicket fell on 41 runs in 8.3 overs. Then, skipper Andy Balbirnie came out to bat at the number three position and stitched a partnership of 184 runs for the second wicket with Stirling. Balbirnie got out on 66 runs off 88 balls, including five fours and one six. After that, Harry Tector came in and put up a partnership of 57 runs for the third wicket with Stirling. But, Stirling finally got out on 162 runs off 134 balls, including 15 fours and eight sixes.

He smashes his fifty off 56 balls, century off 100 balls, and 150 off 124 balls. Apart from him, Tector also scored 57 runs off 33 balls, including four fours and two sixes. In the end, they scored a mammoth total of 349 runs for four wickets in 50 overs. For UAE, Sanchit Sharma took three wickets for 46 runs in seven overs. While Ali Naseer grabbed one wicket for 77 runs in 10 overs. In reply, at the time of this writing, UAE are struggling after scoring 85 runs for three wickets in 15 overs. Still, they need 265 runs in 35 overs with seven wickets in hand. Basil Hameed and Ethan D'Souza were batting while Ireland bowlers were putting pressure on them constantly.
