Team India are currently playing the Aussies in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Nagpur. Before the Test match, the pitch of Nagpur was in headlines as reports were there that it would be a rank turner. However, regarding that, the former team India coach, Ravi Shastri said that he wants to turn the ball on Day one.

In a show on EspnCricinfo, Ravi Shastri said: “I want to turn the ball on Day one. If you lose the toss, so be it. If you are fielding first, but you want to see the ball turning a bit or something there are on offer for bowlers. It’s your strength, you are playing at home, capitalize on it.” Currently, he is working as one of the commentators in the ongoing series.

Speaking of the match, Australia batted first and got bundled out for 177 runs. Ravindra Jadeja made a fantastic comeback as he took five wickets. Apart from him, Ashwin took three wickets while both Siraj and Shami grabbed one wicket each. In reply to that, India batted for 139.3 overs and scored 400 runs. Thus, the Men in Blue got a lead of 223 runs. All fans were in an ecstatic mood seeing such an effort from the Indian batters. Rohit Sharma was the star of the show as he scored 120 runs off 212 balls.

Regarding that innings, Ravi Shastri said: “Rohit Sharma kept the tempo going for India. Wickets were falling around him but his momentum and tempo did not change. Rohit Sharma realised very early that he needed to get a biggie to get India into that strong position. 1st test of the series, captain of the series, if he can lead from the front, he can get India there (to series victory).” Now, after India’s innings, Ravi Shastri came up with a cheeky statement. While talking to the broadcasters, Shastri said: "If you read the reports before Tests, 400 would only come in 3 innings (smiles)". Fans find the statement funny as they came up with some tweets in order to support the former team India's head coach.
