The Asian side had a steady start as the likes of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Varma put together 62 runs for the first wicket. The former scored 87 runs in 56 balls including nine fours and three sixes. Apart from her, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 19 off 12 balls and these innings helped the team reach 155/6. In reply, the Irish team had a poor start as they lost the first wicket on the first ball of the innings.

In the same over, they lost another wicket. After scoring 54/2 in the 8.2 overs, the game was interrupted by the rain. However, the bad weather ensured that the game was stopped and the Indian team won by five runs by the DLS method. After the game, Mandhana was adjudged PLAYER OF THE MATCH.

This was one of my toughest innings: Smriti Mandhana

She said "The finger is fine. One of the most toughest innings I would have played. Not the wicket but the pace they were bowling and with the wind, it got worse. We were telling each other to try and maintain our shape. I was batting bad and she was not timing it well. But we were trying to discuss that and there was a lot of wind and we needed to get used to the pace they were bowling. Good to post some runs and go into the semis. The England match wasn't the way we wanted."
