‘Ab Dhoni vs Pandya hoga’ - Fans react as GT qualify for IPL 2023 Final after defeating MI by 62 runs in Qualifier 2

On 26 May 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the qualifier two of the ongoing IPL. GT came to this clash after getting defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in qualifier one. While MI came to this clash after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the eliminator.

So, fans were hoping for an enthralling battle at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. For GT, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out as openers. They gave a good start as their first wicket fell on 54 runs in 6.2 overs.

GT qualified for the finals after this win over MI 

Then, Gill and Sai Sudharsan put up a partnership of 138 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan got retired out for 43 runs off 31 balls, including five fours and one six. But, it was Gill again who lit up the home stadium with his third IPL ton. He scored 129 runs off 60 balls, including seven fours and 10 sixes. Skipper Hardik Pandya remained not out on 28* runs off 13 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Thus, GT scored 233 runs for three wickets in 20 overs. For GT, Akash Madhwal and Piyush Chawal picked up one wicket each.

In reply, MI batters had a terrible start to the innings after losing both Nehal Wadhera and Rohit Sharma within 2.2 overs for 21 runs. Then, Cameron Green scored 30 runs off 20 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Along with him, Suryakumar Yadav scored 61 runs off 38 balls, including seven fours and two sixes while Tilak Varma scored 43 runs off 14 balls, including five fours and three sixes. But, finally, they got bundled out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs and GT won the match by 62 runs. Thus, GT will now face CSK in the final of IPL 2023 on 28 May 2023. Mohit Sharma was the star with the ball as he grabbed five wickets for 10 runs in 2.2 overs.
