On 17 July 2023, India A took on Nepal in the ongoing ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka. It was the eighth match of the competition that took place in Colombo. India A came to this clash after a convincing win over UAE A. While Nepal suffered a defeat at the hands of Pakistan A.

So, India were looking to continue their winning momentum while Nepal were looking to open their account. Speaking of the match, the Nepal skipper, Rohit Paudel won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, they got bundled out for just 167 runs in 39.2 overs. In the first 10 overs, they lost five wickets for just 37 runs.

India A defeated Nepal by nine wickets 

Then, for the sixth wicket, Rohit and Sompal Kami put up a partnership of 53 runs. Then, Rohit put up another solid partnership of 54 runs for the seventh wicket with Gulsan Jhan. Finally, Rohit got out on 65 runs off 85 balls, including seven fours. While Gulsan scored 38 runs off 30 balls, including two fours and two sixes each. For India, Nishant Sindu took four wickets for 14 runs in 3.2 overs. Along with him, Rajvardhan Hangargekar took three wickets, Harshit Rana grabbed two wickets and Manav Suthar grabbed one wicket.

In reply, Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma came out to open the innings and they stitched a 139-run partnership for the first wicket. Abhishek scored 87 runs off 69 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes. Then, Dhruv Jurel came out to bat at the number three position and scored 21* runs off 12 balls, including one four and two sixes. Sai Sudharsan also remained not out on 58* runs off 52 balls, including eight fours and one six. Thus, India A chased down the target in just 22.1 overs and won the match by nine wickets. Now, they will be in action against Pakistan A at this same venue on 19 July 2023. With this win, Yash Dhull and his men also ensured their berth in the semi-final of this event. Meanwhile, Abhishek won the Player of the Match award for his 87-run knock.
