Groundsmen during IPL 2023 Final (Image Source: Twitter)
The final of the ongoing IPL took place at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 29 May 2023 after it got postponed on 28 May due to heavy rain. However, GT batted first and scored 214 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, CSK came out for the chase but their innings got paused just after three balls due to rain.
So, fans were not happy with the pause. However, after some time the rain stopped but the game was yet to resume due to the wet outfield. So, groundsmen were working hard to dry the pitch but they were seen using a sponge. Seeing such a technique, fans slammed the Indian Cricket Board despite being the richest cricket board in the world.

GT posted the highest-ever total on board in an IPL final
Speaking of the match, fans turned in huge numbers despite the final being shifted to the reserve day. So, the board secretary, Jay Shah tweeted: “Fans are the backbone of @IPL. Unmatched dedication by our fans as they kept calm till the very end on a rain-washed Sunday & came back today! As we pull the curtain to another exciting season, a big thank you to all for their unwavering support throughout. @BCCI #IPL2023Final.”
MS Dhoni won the toss and asked GT to bat first. For GT, Sai Sudharsan was the highest run-scorer with 96 runs off 47 balls, including eight fours and six sixes. Along with him, Wriddhiman Saha scored 54 runs off 39 balls, including five fours and one six. Thus, GT scored 214 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. It was the highest-ever total in IPL history while batting first in a final. For CSK, Matheesha Pathiran took two wickets while both Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket each. Then, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway came out to bat but they batted only three balls before rain struck and postponed the game.

Disappointing to see this. Good structural infrastructure also needs to be backed up with good facilities.
