The Indian cricket board is looking forward to setting things right ahead of the much-anticipated 50-over World Cup to be played in India later this year. The board met with India head coach Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Rohit Sharma to review India’s outing in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022.

Much to the surprise of the Indian fans, the board decided to take several key decisions and out of all, the decision to bring back the Yo-Yo test turned out to be the masterstroke of all. We decided to handpick four players who could meet the end of their careers if the Yo-Yo test makes a comeback and Sarfaraz Khan stands fourth on the list.

Here are the four players:

4) Sarfaraz Khan

One has to agree that Sarfaraz Khan is a beast when it comes to the domestic circuit and the batter has been knocking on the doors of the selectors for a long time now with his continued centuries and double centuries in the domestic arena, grabbing attention on and off the field.

However, Sarfaraz is not the fittest of all and if the Indian cricket board makes the Yo-Yo test the first preference, much to the dreariness of the Indian aspiring star, it might mean the end of his career, without even making his debut in either of the formats.

3) Prithvi Shaw

India is no shortage of talents and Prithvi Shaw might come as a prime example of it. Hitting the headlines post leading the Indian U-19 team to glory during the U-19 World Cup in 2018, Shaw was considered a future superstar of Indian cricket and it turned out that his career had too much of a resemblance to Vinod Kambli.

Although one could argue that the doors are well open for the youngster to make a comeback, his lack of fitness and disciplinary issues are causing a headache to the Indian selectors, eventually forcing them to overlook him as a potential candidate to represent India at the highest level. With Yo-Yo making a comeback, Shaw’s comeback might look difficult and it might as well end his very short-lived glorious career.

2) Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is often compared to team India head coach Rahul Dravid for his tenacity and long game in the longest format of the game. However, the right-handed batter is not among the brightest when it comes to the fitness aspect of the contest.

To add more, although Pujara is one of the unavoidable batters for team India in the Test format, his lack of fitness might cost him his place and with the Indian cricket board stressing the aspect during the review meeting, it might as well come as a dead end for the batter in a career that saw him achieve several milestones in Test cricket.

1) Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian allrounder, is one of the best when it comes to the longest format of the game and the Indian star has bagged more than 440 wickets in the format. However, he is not the fastest going around and often ended up facing criticism for his poor fielding, during crunch situations in specific.

Given that the Indian cricket board are stressing the Yo-Yo test and the fitness aspect, Ashwin might be overlooked in the Test format and much to the dolefulness of his fans, it might mean that his career should end abruptly unless he works on the fitness aspect.
