Following the 20-20 World Cup 2022 exit in the semi-final, the Indian Cricket Board have decided to make some stern decisions. As per reports, the board has decided to opt for split captaincy and have already scrapped the entire selection committee, including the chief selector, Chetan Sharma.

The board, recently, invited applications for the position of national selectors and will, soon, appoint an entirely new selection committee. The arrival of the new selection committee would also mean that some of the players who have been ignored by the previous selection committee members might get benefitted.

On that note, here’s a look at four players who might benefit because of the new selection committee:

4. Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw has done everything he could to earn a recall in the Indian team. He gave stellar starts to the Delhi franchise in the Indian T20 League and also dished out impressive performances for Mumbai in domestic cricket. However, the selectors continued to ignore him and didn’t give him a chance in any format throughout the year.

3. Rahul Tewatia

The Indian spin-bowling all-rounder has been delivering consistent all-round performances in the Indian T20 League. He has shown his finishing ability while chasing down the tough scores on many occasions but despite that, he hasn’t received any backing from the selectors for the Indian team call-up. The new selection committee could come in as a blessing in disguise for Tewatia.

2. T Natarajan

T Natarajan’s ability to bowl pinpoint yorkers helped him climb up the ladder. He got the opportunity to play for India and made his debut in Australia in 2020. His last ODI came against England on March 2021. Injuries at the wrong time didn’t help him scale his career and now he has been completely sidelined from India’s scheme of things.

  1. Rishi Dhawan

There is no denying that India are on a constant lookout for all-rounders, especially in the shortest format. They have tried the likes of Vijay Shankar and Venkatesh Iyer but to no avail. Another Indian all-rounder, Rishi Dhawan has played for India in the past but has, once again, come back into the reckoning following his heroics in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.

He is currently part of the Punjab franchise in the Indian T20 League and the new set of selection committee could have an eye on him for the next edition’s 20-20 World Cup.
