Speaking from the Indian perspective, there are few names who weren’t seen active for very long in the international circuit but they delivered their services either as a coach or in any other role for the cricket-playing teams.

Wasim Jaffer

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer made his first appearance for the national side of India in the longest format of the game 23 years back in the year 2000. He played 31 Tests for India and scored 1944 runs with a decent average of 34.10 including five centuries and 11 half-centuries.

After hanging his boots in international cricket, the Indian domestic legend of 57 centuries took to the other side of the game. He has worked as a coach and expert in the game so far. Currently, the 44-year-old is active as the batting coach for the U-19 team Bangladesh.

Robin Singh

One of the most celebrated and amazing all-rounders India ever produced in the limited-overs format, Robin Singh made his ODI debut in the Indian colors in 1989. In a career of almost 12 years till 2001, Robin appeared in 136 ODIs and impressed everyone with his excellence both with the bat and the ball. He scored 2336 runs with a century and nine half-centuries including 69 wickets to his name.

Later on, after retiring from international cricket, he had been a fielding coach for Team India before moving to the United Arab Emirates as the responsibility of the head coach. He guided UAE to the main round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and subsequently, the team also clinched a win against Namibia in the marquee tournament in Australia.

Lalchand Rajput

The former Mumbai domestic legend Lalchand Rajput didn’t appear for India at the highest level of the game for a long time. He could play only two Tests and four ODIs in his short international career. But apart from that, Rajput has a good track record of coaching and being in the backroom staff to his name after bidding adieu to international cricket.

Earlier before June 2022, he was active in the capacity of a head coach for the national team of Zimbabwe before being replaced by Dave Houghton. Later on, Rajput started serving the Zimbabwean cricket team in the role of Technical Director. The Rajput-Houghton duo guided Craig Ervine’s men to the historic win against the runners-up of the tournament in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
