Shreyas Iyer’s desperate dive in the first ODI against England has put his participation in the upcoming IPL into jeopardy. The Delhi Capitals skipper has a dislocated shoulder and if reports are to be believed, he may be out of action for the next few weeks. Another man who can lead Delhi Capitals in the absence of Shreyas Iyer is Ajinkya Rahane. The 32-year-old is the vice-captain of the Indian Test side and even led the Indian team to a sensational series victory against the kangaroos earlier this year. Rahane has an experience of 25 games as a skipper of an IPL side. He has led Rising Pune Supergiant and Rajasthan Royals in the past.

The Aussie batting icon also has an excellent record as the skipper in IPL cricket. In the 43 matches that Smith has led an IPL side, he has an impressive win percentage of 59.52%. Surely, the Delhi outfit can hand over the captaincy reigns to Smith if Shreyas Iyer is ruled out of the IPL.
