Preview
A lot was expected from West Indies and Bangladesh in the 20-20 World Cup due to their current form and match-winners in the team. The opposite has happened as both teams are yet to register wins in the Super 12 stage of the global event. West Indies have suffered two big losses against England and South Africa and Bangladesh have tasted defeats against Sri Lanka and England.
One loss can spell disaster for the team in this year’s 20-20 World Cup. West Indies have hardly looked like defending champions with the batting and bowling failing to click in unison. Worst, the Caribbean team have also been hit with an injury with pacer Obed McCoy ruled out the tournament. All-rounder Jason Holder has joined the team after the technical committee approved him as the replacement player.
Holder alone cannot change the fortunes and the big guns like of Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell need to fire to help West Indies come back into the tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh have not looked like a team, who had beaten countries like Australia and New Zealand before the global event. On familiar sub-continent-like conditions, the team has struggled to get going. The batting has been a big letdown with none of the batters going on and playing a sheet anchor's role. Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Naim have got starts but have not shown consistency. Bangladesh batters cannot afford another slip up against West Indies.
Pitch Report
The match is going to be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Of late, the pitch in Sharjah is not a typical batting paradise. Barring Afghanistan, the rest of the teams have struggled to get going. The average total here is 140.
