India will take on New Zealand in what will be a crucial contest for both the teams in the 20-20 World Cup. The Virat Kohli-led side had to face a dismaying defeat against Pakistan in their opening fixture. The Men in Green dominated the proceedings to break India’s 12-match winning streak in global events and registered a historic victory by ten wickets.

Shaheen Afridi’s spell wreaked havoc as India lost their openers early on. Captain Kohli stood firm for the side and hit a half-century. Keeper-batter Rishabh Pant also added crucial 39 runs to the team’s account. Owing to these, the team could post a competitive total on board.

Though India’s bowlers went wickless in the game against Pakistan, they possess the ability to tear apart the strongest of batting lineups. The team is renowned for bouncing back stronger. Thus, one cannot write off the team just yet. With Hardik Pandya not available to bowl his full quota of overs, India has been dealing with the concern of the sixth bowling option. The all-rounder, however, was spotted bowling in the nets whilst the team’s practice session.

The Kane Williamson-led side also lost their opening game to Pakistan. The team managed to put the target of just 135 for the opposition. The Kiwis however did not let the chase be a cakewalk. They put up a strong fight against Pakistan with the ball but eventually lost the game by five wickets.

New Zealand will want their batting lineup to shine in the clash against India. The side is pretty balanced with some key players who can shift the fortunes of the game any time around. Tim Southee can be a great threat to India’s batting unit. He has dismissed Kohli on ten occasions in international cricket which is the most by any bowler.

Whereas, India will also look to target New Zealand’s batters. Both sides have lost their previous game and are yet to open their account in the tournament. The teams will be all raring to secure victory in this game as a defeat here might hamper their chances of making it to the semi-finals.
