Afghanistan would aim to get back to winning ways in their upcoming game against debutant Namibia. The Mohammad Nabi-led side has exuded some great character in the tournament so far and has proved their fiefdom. The team consists of a world-class spin attack that dominated the proceedings in their opening fixture of the tournament.

Against Scotland, the team displayed an all-rounder show to completely outplay the opposition. The team posted the target of 191 and owing to a spirited show by Rashid Khan and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, they restricted Scotland at just 60 runs. Afghanistan thus opened its account in the tournament with a victory by a massive margin of 130 runs.

Taking on the challenge against the in-form Pakistan side, the team tested the Men in Green to the core. Despite losing frequent wickets Nabi and Gulbadin Naib added 71 runs in the last 45 balls to post a competitive total of 147-6 on the board. The never give up attitude of Afghanistan was on display as the team kept Pakistan under the pump for most part of the chase. However, a late blitz by Asif Ali shattered their hopes of a win. Yet, the team could hold their heads high with the performance they delivered.

Namibia, on the other hand, will have their spirit highs owing to their impressive run in the tournament so far. The team grabbed the attention of many cricket on-lookers with their performances in the mega event. After facing defeat against Sri Lanka, the side bounced back stronger in the tournament.

They secured victory against the Netherlands and Ireland to advance to the Super 12s. The team then also won their first fixture of the Super 12s against Scotland. Their bowlers blew the trumpet of their repertoire by restricting Scotland to a total of just 109 runs.

The opposition did not allow it to be an easy chase, as Namibia’s batters had to dig deep to chase down the total. The Gerhard Erasmus-led side will be well aware of the challenges that they will have to face against the strong contenders.

Pitch and Conditions:

The pitch of the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi hasn’t been a great one for batting. Thus, a high-scoring game might not be in store. On winning the toss, opting to chase can be a good alternative on this surface.

Weather Report:

The game wouldn’t be affected by rain as there are no rain forecasts. It is a day match and thus the atmosphere will be hot, humid, and dry.
