India's challenge fell off a cliff after Perth win

India had begun the series well by winning the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy bin Perth by 295 runs. However, they then lost three out of the last four Test matches to hand the trophy to the Aussies.

Australia won by ten wickets in Adelaide, drew in Brisbane, won by 184 runs in Melbourne, and won by six wickets in Sydney to take the series 3-1. Jasprit Bumrah's efforts went in vain as he picked up 32 wickets in the series and also won the Player of the Series award.
