The participation of Indian athletes in any sport which is quite a bit dominated by western athletes is very rare to see. Similar is with the fighting sport WWE, where India didn’t have that much involvement in the past except for one name The Great Khali. But now things have changed for the East as India has emerged as the new big market of WWE.

All thanks to the popularity earned by Khali that it encouraged the other Indian sports enthusiasts to make their way towards the WWE. So, here we’ll have a look at the five Indian wrestlers who are currently part of WWE and impressing everyone with their fights and performance.

Jinder Mahal (The Maharaja)

One of the famous WWE superstars from India after Khali. Jinder Mahal is associated with the promotion part of Vince McMahon. Although Mahal was born and brought up in Canada, on the grounds of his Indian ancestry, the WWE company billed him officially as a superstar from the Indian state of Punjab.

The Punjabi lad made his first appearance in WWE 12 years back in the year 2010. Earlier, the fans and admirers of the WWE knows him as the brother-in-law of a former WWE superstar from India, The Great Khali. Mahal has achieved a number of feats to his name since his debut and currently, he is a part of WWE SmackDown.

Dilsher Shanky

Guru Raaj WWE

The Giant lad who truly can carry the legacy of The Great Khali. Dilsher Shanky is seven feet tall in height and he got his training from The Great Khali only. Firstly, he was a part of an eight-man tag team match at superstar spectacle. Other team members of Shanky were Giant Zanjeer, Rey Mysterio, and Ricochet.

They defeated the four-man team consisting of Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, King Corbin, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Later on, Shanky made his appearance in the RAW alongside Jinder Mahal. In the further draft of WWE, Jinder Mahal and Shanky were moved to the SmackDown then onwards where they both accompany each other now.

Guru Raaj

It was the talent tryout of WWE where they spotted Indian talent Guru Raaj, a high-flying athlete who presently appears in the 205 Live and WWE NXT. His opponent during the superstar spectacle was Finn Balor. Although Raaj lost the match he went on to give a tough fight to the Balor.

The Indian surprised the former Universal Champion in the very first match of his WWE career. Following that, he had numerous appearances in NXT and 205 Live. He is the only high-flying superstar from India who is billed in WWE.

Sourav Gurjar (Sanga)

Sourav Gurjar started his WWE career with NXT with his compatriot Rinku Singh Rajput. Malcolm Bivens is currently managing this Indian duo. They both were part of the team with Drew McIntyre in the Superstar Spectacle match where they defeated their two compatriots Singh brothers and Jinder Mahal.

In a development, Rinku Singh was drafted in WWE RAW which eventually resulted in the split of their team. Later on, Sourav left for India and made a comeback on the 18th of Jan, 2022 in NXT with his new name Sanga. Currently, he is in the role of Bodyguard for Grayson Waller.

Rinku Singh Rajput

Rinku was the very Indian superstar who was teamed up with his native fellow Sourav in NXT. He rename Veer from Rinku at the time he became part of Raw where he got new teammates in the form of Mahal and Shanky. But, there were some other new changes that were waiting to happen.

According to the WWE Draft of 2021, Mahal & Shanky became part of SmackDown which ended their team. Although Veer hasn’t returned to WWE till now after the draft.
