Advertisment

Kolkata made a flying start to their Indian T20 League 2022 campaign. However, they haven’t managed to win their last two games. While they managed to post decent totals on the board, the bowling unit has let them down. It will be interesting to see if make any changes in the bowling department. Despite posting a formidable score of 175 runs against Hyderabad in their last game, Kolkata couldn’t defend it as Hyderabad chased down the score quite comfortably in 17.5 overs.

  1. Andre Russell

Kolkata’s power-hitter has been looking in sublime touch. He has played a couple of heart-warming knocks in the last two games and is in great form with the bat. Andre Russell played an unbeaten 25-ball 49-run knock in the last game against Hyderabad.

  1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer got out off a toe-crushing yorker from Umran Malik in the last match against Hyderabad. He hasn’t taken the world by storm but isn’t in poor form either. He would be eager to play a match-defining knock on Monday.

  1. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav started the campaign on a great note. He looked outstanding in the powerplay and picked wickets consistently. However, the KKR seamer haven’t made those breakthroughs in the first six overs in the last two games. He will be the one to watch out for in the next game on Monday.

Probable Playing 11:

1 Venkatesh Iyer, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Shreyas Iyer (Captain), 4 Nitish Rana, 5 Sheldon Jackson (wk), 6 Andre Russell, 7 Sunil Narine, 8 Pat Cummins, 9 Aman Hakim Khan / Shivam Mavi, 10 Umesh Yadav, 11 Varun Chakravarthy.

Rajasthan:

Rajasthan missed the services of Trent Boult badly in the last game. Rassie van der Dussen hasn’t made any impact with the bat. Neesham played the last game but failed to hit the straps. The overseas players need to step up if Rajasthan expect to bounce back strongly on Monday. Rajasthan conceded 192 runs in their last game and, thus, they would be looking to exhibit an improved show with the ball.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler is the man in form. He has been scoring run for fun at the moment. Buttler has been giving powerful starts at the top of the order and is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament. In 5 matches, he has managed to score 272 runs at an average of 68.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal

With the ball, the onus for picking wickets will be on the shoulders of Yuzvendra Chahal. He is the wrecker in chief for the franchise thus far in the tournament. He is currently the highest wicket-taker in the Indian T20 League 2022, with 12 wickets to his name in 5 matches.

  1. Shimron Hetmyer

If Buttler is giving solid starts at the top of the order, Shimron Hetmyer is doing a fine job in the slog overs. Hetmyer has been a revelation for Rajasthan this year. He is making an impact with the bat and consistently scoring runs for the franchise. The West Indies batter currently has 197 runs to his name in 5 matches at an average of 65.67.

Probable Playing XI:

1 Jos Buttler, 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Sanju Samson (Captain WK), 4 Daryl Mitchell, 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Riyan Parag / Karun Nair, 7 R Ashwin, 8 James Neesham/Trent Boult, 9 Prasidh Krishna, 10 Kuldeep Sen, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal.

Pitch Report:

The 30th match between Rajasthan and Kolkata is slated to be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. This is a very small ground as compared to the other ones. So, you expect sixes being hit more frequently in the game. A high-scoring contest is on the cards. With dew coming in the second innings, you expect both teams to bowl first upon winning the toss.
