Pro Kabaddi League season 9: Organizers announce auction dates

The organizers of the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League have officially announced the auction dates for the 9th season of the tournament.

In a good piece of news for ardent sports lovers in India, the organizers of the PKL (VIVO Pro Kabaddi League) have officially announced the auction dates for the 9th season of the tournament. The auction for the league will take place in Mumbai on the 5th and 6th of August. Indian kabaddi players have impressed everyone with their stellar performances in the recently concluded 69th Men’s National Kabaddi Championship.

The player will be bifurcated into four categories during the auction. The categories namely A, B, C, and D will be for the Domestic, Overseas, and New Young Players (NYPs). Further, they will be drafted as ‘All-rounders’, ‘Defenders’, and ‘Raiders’ in the section of each category. The base price for each category will be different starting with INR 30 lakh for A Category-players, and INR 20 lakhs for B Category. It will be followed by INR 10 and INR 6 lakhs in the C and D Categories respectively.

The amount of the total salary to each team will be INR 4.4 crores for this season of the league. The authorities have also expanded the player pool to 500+ which includes 24 new entries coming from top teams of Bangalore’s Khelo India University Games 2021.

CEO of Sports League, Disney Star India, and League Commissioner Anupam Goswami has also talked about the preparations ahead of the 9th season of the Pro Kabaddi League.

“As we get ready for the Season 9 Player Auction, very exciting times lie ahead for kabaddi as a sport and our players. Every season has witnessed the emergence of new talented players and I am certain that there are a lot of surprises in store for us this year as well. I look forward to welcoming the young talents from the Khelo India University Games into the Player Auctions. PKL Season 9 will be organized in liaison with our stakeholders and associates in the national kabaddi ecosystem under the AKFI,” Goswami was quoted as saying in his statement.

Later on, the head of Adani Sportsline, Satyam Trivedi spoke about the auctions and he also mentioned the success of the last season of the Pro Kabaddi League.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to hear about the Pro Kabaddi League Player Auctions. After a successful season 8, all the players are eagerly waiting to step on the mat once again and I am sure that Mashal Sports will definitely organize outstanding Player Auctions. We at Gujarat Giants are looking forward to some exciting bids and building a strong squad for the upcoming Season 9,” said Trivedi.
