Lionel Messi is unarguably one of the biggest football athletes of all time. Even when he isn't at his best, he more often than not still manages to do well for his side. Irrespective of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) doing well or not, he starts trending on social media wherever they play a game.

However, their recent game against Lens saw Messi score a superb goal. This resulted in PSG winning the Ligue 1 as well. The game turned out to be a 1-1 draw as the legendary football athlete scored a goal for his club in the 68th minute of the game.

Messi gave his club a lead as he smashed the ball to the left top corner. It all started when Kylian Mbappe dribbled the ball before passing it to Neymar. While the ball was still in his possession, the Brazilian superstar saw an open Messi. Thus, Neymar eventually passed it to him.

After which, the Argentinian scored the first goal of the match. However, the 88th minute saw Lens’ Corentin Jean score a goal and thus, ensured that the scores are levelled. Nevertheless, PSG claimed their tenth league title as the game ended in a draw.

 

Hence, Messi's goal ensured that his side win the French Ligue 1. Post which, the video of the same went viral on social media. Several fans shared his amazing goal. In the meanwhile, the club's manager Mauricio Pochettino drew light on the title-winning campaign, and addressed the unrest among the fans.

“We are going through a difficult period with the fans and we hope it will get better. We’re in a democracy and we accept all protests. But we have to show respect for this title," he said.

“The atmosphere is a shame. Football is our passion. We’ll try to have as much fun as possible. It’s a shame that won’t be with the supporters but we have to deal with it," said PSG captain Marquinhos.
