After winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bat first. They, however, got off to a very poor start as opener Iram Javed was removed in the second over on duck. The other batter Muneeba Ali (32) held her wicket from one side along with number three Bismah Maroof (17) and took Pakistan to 50 before Maroof was dismissed by Sneh Rana.

Wickets continued to fall then on and Pakistan could not stitch together a significant partnership. They could only reach 99 before all batters were dismissed by Indian bowlers. Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav came up with two wickets each with Renuka Singh, Meghana Singh and Shafali Verma taking one apiece.

Coming onto chase, what looked like an easy target India got a very good start from their openers. Shafali Verma looked in good touch and hit 16 off just nine balls with two fours and one maximum. She was, however, caught behind by Tuba Hasan and cannot take India across the finishing line. Other opener Smriti Mandhana continued his rich vein of form with an unbeaten 63 in just 42 balls. She hit eight boundaries and three sixes on her way to an important half-century.
