Recently, the 43-year-old has made a similar sort of controversial statement on his former Indian T20 League franchises Bangalore and Punjab. Notably, Gayle played for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League for a time period of seven years.

"Those two keywords - loyalty and trust - it's very important. Those two teams - RCB and Punjab - need to learn how to work with those two words,” said Gayle in a video of JioCinema.

Although these comments from the former Caribbean star didn’t go down well with a section of the cricket fans of both Bangalore and Punjab. They took to Twitter to lash out at Chris Gayle for being disgraceful towards the very teams that included him in their squads for a long time.

Earlier, it was the same Chris Gayle who spoke very highly of the Bangalore franchise. In the statement, he said that he wanted to witness Bangalore being the champion of the tournament.

"We wanted to win the trophy but that didn’t just happen. I want to see that franchise lifting the cup. RCB will always be my team. I love that franchise and I’m glad that I was a part of it,” said Gayle in an interview at CricketNext.com

Interestingly, Bangalore is just one of the franchises that haven’t lifted the title of the Indian T20 League since the inception of the tournament 15 years back in the year 2008.
