On 14 May 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL. In the game against Delhi Capitals, they failed to defend 182 runs while in the game against Mumbai Indians, they failed to defend 200 runs. So, despite putting good totals on the board, bowlers were not able to defend those runs. Speaking of this clash, RCB won the toss and elected to bat first.

RR scored 31 runs for six wickets in seven overs

However, they made two significant changes in their bowling lineup. Wayne Parnell came in place of Josh Hazlewood while Michael Bracewell replaces Wanindu Hasaranga in the lineup. While batting first, RCB scored 171 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis scored 55 runs off 44 balls, including three fours and two sixes. While Glenn Maxwell scored 54 runs off 33 balls, including five fours and three sixes. In the end, Anuj Rawat played a cameo of 29* runs off 11 balls, including three fours and two sixes. After that, all eyes were on the RCB bowlers as RR batters have been in good form in recent matches.

But, both Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell were in song as RR lost five wickets for 28 runs in the first six overs. Siraj took the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal as he managed a two-ball duck. Then, Parnell took the wickets of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. Buttler scored a two-ball duck while Samson scored four runs off five balls. Then, Root was Parnell’s third victim as the star England batter scored 10 runs off 15 balls. Michael Bracewell also took the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal as he scored runner ball four runs. In the seventh over, Bracewell struck again as RR were 31 runs for six wickets in seven overs. Seeing such a terrific performance from the bowlers, fans went crazy and lauded them on social media.
