Finally, women’s cricket has got a massive boost in the cricketing world with the announcement of the inaugural Women’s T20 League. The idea of this cash-rich women’s T20 tournament has its roots of inspiration to the Men’s Indian T20 League. The renowned veteran women’s cricketers alongside some emerging talents have registered their names for the player auction for the first-ever edition of the Women’s T20 League.

As per the latest reports, a total of 1525 cricketers submitted their names for the player auction, and 409 were finalized out of those. Now, these players will go under the hammer during the player auction consisting of competition between five participating teams in the tournament.

Apart from that, there were also some star women cricketers who could register themselves in the marquee set of the players with a base price of INR 50 Lakh. But they happened to keep themselves only in the second tier at the base price of INR 40 Lakhs.

With said that, here we’ll have a look at three players who may have been underconfident of their excellence in the game and undervalued themselves.

Tahilia McGrath (Australia)

The star Australian all-rounder Tahilia McGrath played a crucial role in the gold medal run of Australia during the Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham. She has also amassed 549 runs in just 15 T20I innings during 21 appearances with an unbelievable average of 68.62. McGrath has also four half-centuries in the T20Is to her name.

Having such decent numbers in the shortest format of the game and a match-winning knack, she may have perfectly fit into the bracket of INR 50 Lakhs. But the 27-year-old opted to put herself in the bracket.

Radha Yadav (India)

The 22-year-old star left-arm Indian bowler Radha Yadav has played 63 T20Is for the Indian women’s cricket team. In these matches, she has scalped 65 wickets with a decent economy rate of 21.13 including a four-wicket haul and a best performance of 4/25.

Apart from this, she has also produced some brilliant performances in the last five T20 appearances by scalping 5 wickets including three T20Is and two other T20Is. Despite all these amazing numbers, Yadav decided put herself in the bracket of INR 40 lakhs whereas he could have easily made it to the base price of INR 50 Lakhs.

Beth Mooney (Australia)

Women's T20 League

The veteran Australian wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney has a decorated T20I career to his name with 2144 runs with a decent average of 39.70 including two centuries and 15 half-centuries on her credit. She also played a crucial knock of 46 runs against the Pakistan Women’s team in the recently concluded three-match T20I series.

Notably, Mooney is in a good run of form with the bat in the T20I cricket which could be very supportive for him to register in the highest bracket for the Women’s T20 League player auction. But she also kept herself only in the second tier bracket of INR 40 lakhs.
