Mickey Arthur was the coach of Pakistan from 2016 and 2019. During his tenure, Pakistan won the 2017 Champions Trophy after defeating arch-rivals India in the final. Now, reports are circulating that Arthur is coming back as the online coach of Pakistan. He will coach Babar Azam and co. online and will travel with the team as per his wish.

Thus, he will become the first-ever online coach in the world of cricket. The current head coach of Pakistan, Saqlain Mushtaq’s contract is going to expire, and hence, Najam Sethi is looking to appoint Micky Arthur once again. According to reports of BolNews Pakistan, Arthur has finally agreed to become the coach of Pakistan.

Mickey Arthur recently signed a contract with Derbyshire County Cricket Club

Recently, Arthur signed a contract with Derbyshire County Cricket Club. So, reports have been suggesting that he might not be available for marquee tournaments like Asia Cup 2023. But, Mickey Arthur will be available on the ground for the World Cup 2023 in India. His contract will run till the ODI World Cup in October. Last week, Najam Sethi said: “I am personally in negotiations with Mickey and we have resolved 90 percent of issues. Hopefully, we will very soon share the news that Mickey will be joining us. I’d like him to build his own team of coaches once he is here.”

On 10 January, the Pakistan Cricket Board shared a statement that reads: “Owing to his long-term contract with Derbyshire, we have also discussed a proposal to act as a consultant to the PCB on a time-sharing basis with Derbyshire. Unfortunately, however, this option is proving difficult to materialize for various reasons on both sides.” However, Mickey Arthur parted ways with Pakistan in 2019 after the Men in Green failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2019 World Cup. After these reports are getting circulated, fans have come out and shared their views on social media platforms.
