Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara has recently hit his third double hundred of the ongoing County season, while playing for Sussex. In the first leg of the tournament, he has scored 700 plus runs including two double hundreds. Pujara was rewarded with a spot in the Indian team because of this performance and he played in the rescheduled fifth Test against England. The right-hander scored a half-century in the second innings.

With no Test matches slotted in the next few months, the Saurashtra player has resumed playing the tournament. The 34-year-old started from where he left before playing for India. Once again, he has scored a double hundred. This performance came against Middlesex and became the first Sussex player to score a double hundred at Lord's against Middlesex.

Notably, the last Sussex player to score a double hundred at the same venue and against the same team was Colonel HH Shri Sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji II 125 years ago. However, the Indian fans aren't happy even after the marathon effort. They feel that there is no use in scoring this many runs in County Cricket if he can do the same for India.

The former vice-captain had lost his place in the team early this year after a string of failures. He then went to play red-ball cricket in England and his performances were the talk of the town. It will be interesting to see how many runs he will score at the end of the season.

He is nearing 1000 runs and will be looking to get more as the Ranji Trophy is set to start very late this year. Notably, he mostly plays red-ball cricket in the Indian domestic circuit. Talking about the match, his innings helped the team get to 523 while batting first. In reply, the home team has scored 485 all-out. In the second innings, the visitors have lost one wicket and scored 38 runs at the time of writing. The second wicket will bring Pujara at the crease. In the meanwhile, fans are frustrated over the fact that he couldn't play the same way in the international arena this year.
