Watch: Virat Kohli's heartwarming reaction to ABD chants in Bangalore

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers shared a great bond both on and off the field during their time together for Bangalore. The two are known to be great friends and shared many memorable partnerships together for the Bangalore team.

Bangalore is the home ground for Virat Kohli’s Indian T20 League franchise thus he enjoys a massive fan following in the city. When Kohli walked out to bat during India's inning in the second Test against Sri Lanka, the fans gave their “local” hero a grand reception. Virat has been playing for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League from the very beginning. He also led the team from 2013-to 2021. Under his leadership, Bangalore made it to the final in 2016, only to come second. Virat stepped down as the franchise’s captain after the end of the 2021 season.

After giving Kohli a grand reception on his entry to bat, the Bangalore crowd cheered for another hero of the franchise during Sri Lanka’s batting innings. Kohli was fielding in the slips when the crowd started chanting AB de Villiers’s name. Notably, the veteran South African retired from Indian T20 League just ahead of the upcoming season. While the fans were chanting ABD’s name, Kohli was seen responding to the cheers by imitating De Villiers’s iconic switch hit.

Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis, the new South African buy of the team, has been appointed as their captain for the upcoming Indian T20 League season.

Meanwhile, Kohli reacted to Faf's appointment and said that he is very happy to pass the baton to Du Plessis – “Few updates for you guys. Our season is going to start pretty soon something which I am excited for. As I said, renewed energy, really looking forward to this season. But the more important news, Faf is going to be our new captain. And I couldn’t be more happier to pass on the baton to a good friend, whom I’ve known very well over the years. We have been in touch for many years now and he is one of the few guys whom I’ve got to know outside of cricket”- said Kohli on Faf's appointment.
