On June 27, England's Jonny Bairstow finished the game just like MS Dhoni did during the 2011 World Cup final for India. England needed six runs to win the third and last Test of the series against New Zealand. Bairstow hit a six against Michael Bracewell to end the series and help the team clean sweep the tourists. This is the first time since early last year when the team had dominated a series.

In early 2021, the Three Lions beat Sri Lanka by 2-0. At that time, the team was led by Joe Root. Now, the batting maestro has left the job and it has been taken over by Ben Stokes, who seems to have found the winning formula alongside head coach Brendon McCullum. The moment of the Ben Stokes-led side's win was uploaded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Twitter.

Talking about the game, the hosts needed 113 runs to win on the last day. They were 183/2 at stumps on Day Four. However, the first session of Day Five was washed out due to rain. They needed to score the required runs in two sessions. Ollie Pope was batting on 82 while the former skipper was on 56. It looked like both players will get a hundred.

However, Pope (82) was cleaned up by Tim Southee in the first over of the second session. Jonny Bairstow came out to bat next and scored an unbeaten 71 off just 44 balls including eight fours and three sixes. His knock ensured that the team goes over the line with a little more than a session left in the game. Also, this innings meant that Root couldn't get to three figures and stayed unbeaten on 86.

The team will now play the postponed fifth Test against India starting on July 1 in Birmingham. The game is part of the series which was played last year. The team is currently trailing by 1-2 and would like to avoid the embarrassment of losing a series at home, especially when they have started doing well.
