Indian skipper and veteran batter Rohit Sharma is gearing up his preparations to leave no stone unturned to face the ace Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi in the upcoming clash against the arch-rivals on the 23rd of October at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. Notably, Rohit Sharma had a miserable outing in the last match against Pakistan during last year’s 20-20 World Cup in 2021.

The Indian skipper came to open the innings and went on a golden duck against Shaheen. But this year, the 35-year-old is in preparations to clear off his books with the premier Pakistan pacer for the outing last year.

In this video, Rohit can be seen practicing in the nets with a special focus on facing left-arm pace keeping Shaheen Afridi in consideration.

Speaking about the last year’s clash during the 20-20 World Cup 2021 between India and Pakistan, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam won the toss and asked the Indians to bat first at the turf of Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, the men in blue had a very devastating start and fell prey to the pace of Shaheen Afridi and could score 151 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Afridi scalped three wickets by conceding just 31 runs in his quota of four overs.

While chasing the target, the opening pair of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and star batter Mohammad Rizwan stole the show single-handedly and took Pakistan comfortably across the line. They both stitched an unbeaten partnership of 152 runs to win the match by a massive margin of 10 wickets and end their winning streak of India in the World Cup matches.

Shaheen was adjudged ‘player of the match award for his stellar performance in the match against Virat Kohli & co.
