After making his comeback in the cash-rich league, he led the Gujarat team to its maiden title. With the bat and ball, he did fairly alright. This earned him a comeback to the team for the South Africa series. After the series, he was appointed the skipper of the team for the Ireland tour. Now, he is playing all the white-ball games for the team and the fans are hoping for him to remain fit.

Meanwhile, the right-handed all-rounder has uploaded an emotional video. In the video, he has summarized his journey since the back surgery in the last quarter of 2019 calendar year. In a one minute and 25 seconds-video, he compilated everything and gave a voice-over for the video.

The video was captioned "Through the ups and downs, with my people by my side. Woke up every morning raring to go, with the will to become stronger, with the will to become fitter and play for my country. Always grateful to those who stood by me, who encouraged me, who guided me."
