WATCH: Former Indian legend Kapil Dev gives a befitting reply to Pakistani anchor during a TV show

India and Pakistan will face each other in the much-anticipated encounter in a super-4 round of the Asia Cup 2022. In the previous clash between both the teams during the group stage, Indians thrashed the men in green by a margin of five wickets, thanks to the brilliant all-round performance from the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Before the group stage match of Asia Cup 2022, both teams squared off with each other during the T20 World Cup 2021. In that match, Pakistan completely outplayed the Indian side by a mammoth margin of 10 wickets to seal the victory.

Recently, former legendary Indian skipper and World Cup winner, Kapil Dev talked expressed his shocking reaction while discussing the composition of the team. All it happened during an interaction between Indian and Pakistani experts on a TV show.

“We were very surprised (with Pant’s absence against Pakistan), there’s no doubt about that. All were discussing it. The way Pant has played and added to that, he’s a left-hander, he was a very good option. And we can only sit here and discuss. But you are right, his presence makes India’s batting stronger and his way of batting is completely different,” said Kapil Dev during the discussion.

Notably, Pant was not a part of India’s playing XI, the skipper and the management opted to pick senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik over the southpaw. Although Karthik couldn’t get enough opportunity to display his talent in the middle, the 24-year-old Pant couldn’t get to bat during the last match against Hong Kong.

Although, Pant has made it to the playing XI in the second match against Pakistan to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium within a few minutes.

Indian management will be eyeing to create a perfect squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 commencing next month in October in Australia. In a major setback, senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out of the marquee tournament due to a knee injury.
