The 31-year-old all-rounder made his final appearance in the colored jersey of the three lions. Fans stood up to give honor in the form of a standing ovation to the star of the game who served the country for almost a decade. He departed on an individual score of five runs off 11 balls in his last ODI match.

Finally, it is over for Ben Stokes in the white-ball format

England and South Africa are locking horns in the first of the three-match ODI series at Durham. It is also the last ODI appearance for the England Test skipper and legendary all-rounder Ben Stokes. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat in the opening fixture of the ODI series.

Here's the final walk for the legend:

South African batter showcased an amazing display of batting, thanks to the century of Rassie Van der Dussen who smashed 134 runs off just 117 balls. Apart from him, Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram also played the vital individual knocks of 57 and 77 runs respectively. These individual scores helped the visitors to post a decent total of 333 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target, the English team lost four wickets on the score of 171 runs in 33.4 overs. The opening pair of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow gave a fine start to the hosts with a 102-run stand for the first wicket. But later on, the upper middle-order of the three lions collapsed and wickets fell down in quick successions.

Currently, England needs 163 runs from 16.2 overs having former Test skipper Joe Root and Liam Livingstone in the middle.

Earlier, England lost to India in a three-match ODI series with a score line of 1-2 after losing the last ODI by five wickets.
