Watch: Axar Patel does an MS Dhoni, wins the match with a six

India and West Indies locked horns in the second of the three-match ODI series. The match was played at Port of Spain’s Queen’s Park Oval. Indian skipper lost the toss and once again and Nicholas Pooran decided to bat first this time. The hosts’ posted a decent total of 311 runs for the loss of six-wicket in the first innings.

Chasing the target, India survived a middle-order collapse and eventually won the match by two wickets. The most crucial knock of 64 runs from all-rounder Axar Patel helped the visitors to seal the series with a winning lead of 2-0.

Apart from the successful run chase, another moment has gone viral over social media. It was when India needed six runs off three balls, and Axar Patel was on the strike. The 28-year-old all-rounder went on to do an MS Dhoni on the fourth ball of the over and he smashed six to cross the line for India with two balls remaining.

India takes a winning lead in the series with a win in the second ODI

Earlier, West Indies got a good start from the opening pair of wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers. They made a partnership of 65 runs for the first wicket in 9.1 overs. Later on, Hope went on to score a century and played a brilliant knock of 115 runs. He smashed 10 boundaries and three sixes during his knock.

Skipper Nicholas Pooran also played the captaincy knock of 74 runs to take the team to a good total of 311 runs in the allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target, the Indian team was looking in trouble when the 99-run stand for the fourth wicket between Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson ended. Once, India lost six wickets on the score of 256 wickets. But it was the time when the Gujarat-born all-rounder Axar Patel took charge and finished the match for his team with a commendable knock of 64 runs off just 35 balls with three boundaries and five sixes. He was adjudged player of the match for his outstanding performance.
