‘Waise bhi century kidhar hota?’ - Fans react as Akash Chopra bashes Suyash Sharma for bowling wide during KKR vs RR clash in IPL 2023

On 11 May 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. However, RR handed a thrashing defeat to KKR by nine wickets, and Yashasvi Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award. He smashed 98* runs off 47 balls and became the fastest batter to score fifty in IPL history (13).

During the chase, all KKR bowlers got smashed all around the park and Suyash Sharma was not an exception also, He came up as an impact player in place of Venkatesh Iyer. He conceded 22 runs in three overs without any wickets. But, his one delivery made headlines as fans seemed that it was intentionally done by him.

In 13.1 overs, RR chased down the target. Before that, during the 13th over, Suyash Sharma was bowling while Jaiswal and Samson were batting. Before the last delivery of that over, RR needed three runs. Jaiswal was on the non-striker end with 94* runs while Sanju Samson was batting on 48* runs. But, the young leg spinner was seen bowling a full ball, going down leg. Somehow, the RR skipper managed to block the ball and prevented it from being wide. Samson remained not out on 48* runs off 29 balls.

However, in the first delivery of the over, Jaiswal managed a four only and ended the match with 98* runs. Seeing that approach from a young bowler like Suyash, fans were not happy and blamed him for doing that deliberately. Regarding the same matter, the former KKR and Team India player, Aakash Chopra also shared a tweet that reads: “Trying to bowl a wide to prevent Yashasvi from getting to his 100….poor taste IMHO.” However, in reply to that, some fans also claimed that even if it would have gone for a wide, still Jaiswal would not be able to score that century.
