If reports are to be believed, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has requested the BCCI selection committee to remove Rohit Sharma as the limited-overs vice-captain. Kohli, who announced that he’ll step down as India T20I captain after the T20 World Cup, believes that instead of Rohit Sharma, 34, KL Rahul should be given the ODI deputyship while Rishabh Pant should be the vice-captain of the T20 side. While there is no official confirmation about the same, the reports have left the fans baffled.

Meanwhile, as per a report in SportsTiger, a source close to the BCCI made some shocking revelations about Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as a T20I skipper. The source said BCCI would have sacked Virat if India had not done well in the T20 World Cup thus Kohli himself decided to give up T20I captaincy to relieve some pressure.

"Virat knew that he would have been removed from white ball captaincy. If the team doesn't do well at World T20, he was gone for good as far as the white-ball leadership is concerned," as quoted by PTI.

"He just reduced a bit of pressure on himself as it would seem that he is there on his own terms. It might not happen in the 50 overs if the performance in T20 hits a downward spiral," the BCCI insider added.

Virat surprised the Indian fans by announcing that he’ll step down as the Indian T20I captain after the T20 World Cup. He took to his social media handles and revealed how leading India in all three formats is taking a toll on him.

“Of course, arriving at this decision took a lot of time. After a lot of contemplation and discussions with my close people. Ravi bhai and also Rohit , who have been an essential part of the leadership group, I’ve decided to step down as the T20 Captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October. I have also spoken to the secretary Mr Jay Shah and the President of BCCI Mr Sourav Ganguly along with all the selectors about the same. I will continue to serve Indian Cricket and the Indian Team to the best of my ability.”

Meanwhile, a former cricketer also made some stunning claims about Virat Kohli. The ex-cricketer said that unlike MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli is not easily approachable for the team members. He also praised Rohit Sharma and compared him to MS Dhoni.

"Rohit has shades of MSD but in a different manner. He takes the junior players out for meals, gives them a friendly pat on the back when they are down and knows the mental aspects of a player's make-up inside out.
