However, it was the final wicket from Deepti, that hit the headlines as the bowler produced a non-striker run-out to remove Charlie Dean, who scored a well-crafted 47, getting England closer to the target. This dismissal, however, still remains one of the most controversial of all time and many cricketers from England criticised the act from the Indian bowler.

Jason Roy, the star batter who outclassed others in the 2019 50-over World Cup, was once involved in a controversial dismissal. The incident happened in the second T20I on when England were chasing a target of 175.

Roy, who tried to return back to the non-striker’s end while being refused a run from Liam Livingstone, eventually got hit by the ball and the manner in which he returned, made the South African players question and appeal it. Eventually, Roy was given out and the player returned after gathering 67 runs to his name.

The incident happened in the second ODI of the five-match ODI 2015 when Australia toured England and the Three Lions team were chasing a mammoth target of 310. However, during the chase, when Mitchell Starc threw the ball towards the stumps, Ben Stokes, who was on the strike, eventually tried to stop the ball.

However, it still remains a mystery if Stokes did it on purpose or to defend himself from the throw as it was quite fast. The left-handed batter was eventually given out and Australia won the match by 64 runs.

Joe Root, England’s in-form batter in Tests, was once involved in a mysterious dismissal during the 2013/14 Ashes series. During the third test, when the series was well under the control of the Baggy Greens, Root faced a good length ball off Shane Watson in the first innings and eventually was given caught behind.

However, when the decision was reviewed, the Snicko showed no spike when the ball was near the bat. However, it did detect a small spike when the ball went a bit past the bat, convincing the third umpire to give it out. This frustrated the entire English crowd and the team, who felt that it was not out.

During the fourth ODI between England and New Zealand in 2008, Grant Elliot was involved in an ugly mix-up with the pacer Ryan Sidebottom. However, the Kiwi star cricketer was run-out and the player was hesitant to make his way back as he felt that he was run out only because of the mix-up.

England’s then-skipper Paul Collingwood, however, refused to withdraw the appeal and the umpires had to give it out, forcing Elliot to make his way back to the dressing room. It was one of the very few instances which actually frustrated the New Zealand dressing room, which is otherwise known for remaining calm in all situations.
