Delhi managed to restrict Gujarat to 171 runs in the first innings in that game. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 23 runs in 4 overs. Khaleel Ahmed (2 for 34) also made impressive returns.

Delhi, in pursuit of that total, were restricted to 157 runs in the second innings, thereby falling 14 runs short of the target. Rishabh Pant played a handy 43-run knock in 29 balls but couldn’t play right till the end and take the team home.

Heading into the next game, Delhi would be looking to get back to winning ways. Here’s a look at three changes Delhi need to make to win their next game against Lucknow.

  1. Adding David Warner in place of Tim Seifert

Delhi’s assistant coach, Shane Watson has recently revealed that David Warner is available to play the next game against Lucknow. He has completed his isolation period and is likely to be included in the playing XI. He should replace Tim Seifert at the top of the order and open the batting with Prithvi Shaw. Warner’s inclusion will strengthen Delhi’s batting unit. His presence will give Delhi the confidence of posting big scores on the board.

  1. Replacing Mustafizur Rahman with Anrich Nortje

In a big boost for Delhi Capitals, Anrich Nortje has recovered fully from his injury and is all set to play his first game for Delhi against Lucknow this season. Shane Watson recently revealed that he is fully fit and is likely to play the next game. Nortje’s inclusion will further strengthen Delhi’s bowling unit. He will add the firepower missing in the fast bowling department.

  1. Adding Yash Dhull in place of Mandeep Singh

Indian cricketer, Mandeep Singh has struggled to hit the straps this season. His scores in the first two matches read, 0 and 18. Delhi should think of replacing him with young Indian sensational Yash Dhull. The latter recently led India to the Under-19 World Cup trophy. He batted brilliantly in the tournament, scoring 229 runs in 4 matches at an average of 76.33. He is regarded as one of the rising stars in Indian cricket. Delhi should give him the opportunity to showcase his batting exploits at big stage.
