The reports have learned that there might be some big changes in the national selection committee of India having a possibility of a new chairman on the sidelines of the other changes. The space is still vacant for the West Zone selector since Abey Kuruvilla signed off from the role of West Zone selector earlier this year in February.

Indian cricket Board’s secretary Jay Shah has come up with a statement on further development in the same regard.

“We will soon form a Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which will follow the procedure and appoint the new selection committee,” said Jay Shah.

There are also reports that Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh will be relieved from their responsibilities as South Zone selector and Central Zone selector respectively. While their replacements might take over the responsibilities almost two months later in December 2022.

Indian cricket Board issued a statement when the current national committee was appointed having former Indian pacer Chetan Sharma as the chief of the committee.

“The CAC will review the candidates after a one-year period and make the recommendations to the BCCI,” said the Indian cricket Board at that moment.

Although, there are also the assumptions that chief selector Chetan Sharma might stay and continue in his role. But it would be an interesting aspect to see if he would be there in the same existing role or if something else depends upon the other contenders on the list. Board’s rules state that “the selector with the most Test caps is automatically elevated to the Chief selector position.”

This rule came under effect since the constitution of the board was revised by the Lodha Committee formed by the Supreme Court of India. It was also kept in consideration that the selection committee should be formed with the understanding of modern-day cricket.
