Sri Lanka and Pakistan locked horns in the title clash of the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams were coming off an excellent success in the group stage and super-4 round of the tournament. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam won the toss and asked the Islanders to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, the Sri Lankan team posted a total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, the men in green couldn’t cross the line and scored only 147 runs for the loss of all wickets in 20 overs. Eventually, Sri Lanka lifted the Asia Cup title for the sixth time in the history of the tournament with a win by 23 runs in the final of the tournament.

Mohammad Rizwan ended up as the highest run scorer for Pakistan in the match with an individual inning of 55 runs off 49 balls with four boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him, middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed was the only other batter who crossed the 30-run mark for the team.

Wanindu Hasaranga won the award of player of the match with an amazing all-round performance both with 36 runs with the bat and 3 wickets with the ball.
