'This is vintage Pakistan, Brilliant typical collapse chase!' - Fans take a dig at Pakistan's run chase as Sri Lanka lifts sixth title in the Asia Cup

Sri Lanka and Pakistan locked horns in the title clash of the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams were coming off an excellent success in the group stage and super-4 round of the tournament. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam won the toss and asked the Islanders to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, the Sri Lankan team posted a total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, the men in green couldn’t cross the line and scored only 147 runs for the loss of all wickets in 20 overs. Eventually, Sri Lanka lifted the Asia Cup title for the sixth time in the history of the tournament with a win by 23 runs in the final of the tournament.

The ardent cricket fans came up with their multiple opinions on Twitter as Dasun Shanaka & co completely outplayed Pakistan in the final of the 15^th edition of this continental tournament. Discussing furthermore the match, then the Sri Lankan team was looking in trouble when they lost their five wickets only on the score of 58 runs in 8.5 overs. But the amazing knock of 71 runs off just 45 balls with six boundaries and three sixes from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and supporting effort of 36 runs off 21 balls from Wanindu Hasaranga helped the Lankan tigers to post a decent total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rawalpindi-born pacer Haris Rauf ended up as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets for Pakistan by conceding 29 runs in his quota of four overs.

While chasing the target, Sri Lanka started very poorly as Madhushanka conceded 9 extra runs before bowling the first fair delivery of the second innings in the first over. But later on, the Sri Lankan bowling attack made a strong comeback in the match bundling up the Babar Azam's men on the score of 147 runs in 20 overs to win the match by 23 runs and register the sixth title triumph in the Asia Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan ended up as the highest run scorer for Pakistan in the match with an individual inning of 55 runs off 49 balls with four boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him, middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed was the only other batter who crossed the 30-run mark for the team.

Wanindu Hasaranga won the award of player of the match with an amazing all-round performance both with 36 runs with the bat and 3 wickets with the ball.
