Shubman Gill has been the talk of the town of late for his performances in the ODI format for team India. Team India's skipper called it right at the toss in the ongoing third ODI against Zimbabwe and elected to bat first. The openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul put on a partnership of 63 until the latter perished for thirty runs off forty-six balls.

The southpaw also returned after a well-made forty runs off sixty-eight balls. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan took up the task of steadying India's innings and they did it in style. The left-hander smashed a sixty-one ball fifty and looked in good nick.

However, it was Shubman Gill, who showed the way for India. The Gujarat-batter found gaps quite easily and managed to score runs at a quick pace. The 22-year-old eventually reached his fifty off 51 balls. It looked evident that the batter wanted to amass more runs and looked in fine touch to convert it big.

The Punjab-born switched gears right after reaching his fifty and started scoring boundaries for fun. The batter managed to hit boundaries at will and was all set to reach his first ever hundred in international cricket. Shubman Gill eventually reached his well-deserved century off just 82 balls. He perished for a high-class 130 runs off 97 balls. This innings attracted a lot of praise for the youngster who made his debut in 2019 against New Zealand.

On a track that looked tough for other batters, Shubman Gill made it easy and scored a high-class hundred. He will look to continue the form and eventually seal his place in the Indian squad for the 2023 World Cup.

Shubman Gill grabbed the opportunity with both hands when he was assigned the task to open the innings alongside Shikhar Dhawan. He was also adjourned as the man of the series in the previously concluded ODI series against West Indies.
