India and Pakistan are all set to cross the swords against each other first time after the clash in the T20 World Cup 2021. Both teams will now play against each other during their first match in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 on the 28th of August later this month. Babar Azam & co will be looking for their second consecutive win whereas the Indian side is also gearing up for revenge for the last defeat at the World Cup.

The multi-team continental tournament will commence on the 27th of August in the succeeding week. Interestingly, when both teams played against each other last time, it was also in UAE. The men in green won that encounter by a massive margin of 10 wickets against the Indians.

The positive fact with the Indian side ahead of the Asia Cup is that they have won all series in since the time Rohit Sharma took the charge as the full-time skipper. But former Pakistani skipper and legendary cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has something different to say on this. He feels that Pakistan will have an upper hand in the match against Rohit & co on the 28th. Sarfaraz said that the Pakistani side has a good understanding of the conditions in the UAE which will surely help them in the match.

Our morale would be higher because when we met the last time, Pakistan defeated India - Sarfaraz Ahmed

"The first match of any tournament sets the tone of the campaign. Our first game is against India. Definitely, our morale would be higher because when we met the last time, Pakistan defeated India at the same venue. Pakistan is very familiar with the conditions, having played in the PSL and numerous home series here. Yes, India has played in the IPL here, but they don't have that much experience of playing in these conditions," said Sarfaraz to Sports Paktv.

"It is important for Pakistan to have a fit Shaheen Shah Afridi. If you look at their current team, they have been playing good cricket. But our team, especially in the shortest format, have been playing well," he added later.
