The first match of Sunday between Kolkata and Delhi turned out to be a high-scoring contest. The fans were treated to some brilliant individual performances from players from either side. However, Delhi managed to get the better of Kolkata as they beat them by 44 runs. This is Delhi's second win in four games.

After being asked to bat first, Delhi got to an explosive start. The opening combination of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner lived up to their expectations as they got 68 runs in the first six overs. After scoring 93 runs in 8.4 overs, Delhi finally lost their first wicket as Shaw was bowled by Varun Chakaravarthy for 51.

Delhi's skipper Rishabh Pant then played a handy cameo of 27 from just 14 balls after which he too had to depart. Warner continued to entertain his fans as he went on to score a brilliant 61 from 45 balls. Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell failed to impress as they were dismissed for 1 and 8 respectively.

When Delhi were 167-5 in 17 overs, it seemed as if Kolkata's bowlers might just be able to restrict the batting team to less than 200. However, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur played aggressively to ensure that their side get to a humongous total of 215-5. As far as Kolkata's bowlers are concerned, Sunil Narine was simply sensational as he only gave 21 runs in his four overs, and also took two wickets.

During the second innings, Venkatesh Iyer took the aggressive route from ball one. Yet, he didn't last too long as he perished after an eight-ball 18. On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane struggled to get going and was only able to score eight runs, and took 11 balls for the same.

Post which, Kolkata's skipper and Nitish Rana put together a 69-run partnership before the 28-year-old perished after scoring a useful 30. Iyer was quick to follow as he was dismissed after scoring his half-century. Constant wickets meant that they tapered off during the final few overs. They were bundled for 171. Kuldeep Yadav was the star as he picked a brilliant four-fer, and acted as a catalyst towards Delhi's win.
