Bhilwara Kings and Gujarat Giants locked horns in the ninth match of the Legends League Cricket at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Giants’ skipper Virender Sehwag won the toss and asked the Bhilwara Kings to bat first. Batting first, Irfan Pathan & co. posted a big total of 222 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 over.

While chasing the target, the Giants got bundled up on the score of 165 runs in 19.4 and lost the match by 57 runs. The fans also appreciated the performance of the Bhilwara Kings against Sehwag’s men.

Speaking of the match, then the opening pair of former South African batter Morne Van Wyk and Irish legend William Porterfield provided an excellent start of 117 runs for the first wicket to Bhilwara Kings. They both scored the brilliant knocks of 50 and 64 runs respectively.

Other than these two openers, skipper Irfan Pathan came to bat at number three and played a vital knock of 34 runs off 23 balls with a boundary and three maximums in his account. Jesal Karia also scored crucial 43 runs off 29 balls with five boundaries and six to his name.

With the help of these amazing knocks, Kings managed to post a massive score of 222 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

While chasing the target, lower order batter Yashpal Singh was the only highest run-scorer for the Giants with his knock of 57 runs off just 29 balls. He smashed six boundaries and three sixes. Other than him, none of the Giants’ batter crossed the mark of 30 runs individually.

Eventually, the bowling attack of the Kings bundled up the Giants on the score of 165 runs in 19.4 overs to win the match by 57 runs. Former veteran Indian pacer S. Sreesanth scalped three wickets for his team.

Former Irish skipper William Porterfield won the award of player of the match for his match-defining knock.
