According to a statement issued by the franchise, the BCCI medical team recommended Suryakumar to rest. "Suryakumar Yadav has sustained a muscle strain on the left forearm and has been ruled out for the season. He has been advised to rest, in consultation with the BCCI medical team," read the statement.

Suryakumar Yadav was one of the positives for the Mumbai team in the rather gloomy season. Yadav scored 303 runs in the eight matches that he played, including three half centuries. Yadav had a strike rate of 145 and an average of 43 this season. Notably, he also missed the team's first two games this season due to a thumb injury.

Meanwhile, Mumbai became the first team to be knocked out of the race to the playoffs this season. The five-time champions have had a poor 2022 season. They have only won two games this season in their 10 outings. They currently stand at the bottom of the points table at 10th place.

The men in blue and gold are currently playing against Kolkata in the 56th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. They asked Kolkata to bat first after winning the toss. Venkatesh Iyer got off Kolkata off to a great start.

He started scoring right from the word go and added 43 runs in 24 balls before being dismissed by Kumar Kartikeya in the sixth over. He hit three fours and four sixes in his short stay. Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane took Mumbai to 87 runs in the first ten overs. Post this match, Mumbai is scheduled to play Chennai on the 12th of May, Hyderabad on the 17th of May, and Delhi on the 21st of May.
