Things just keep getting worse for Deepak Chahar. An injury during the T20I series against West Indies earlier this year meant that he had to miss the initial stages of the Indian T20 league 2022. However, there hasn't been an update regarding him regaining full fitness.

As a matter of fact, several reports suggested that he suffered yet another injury while recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). This meant that he might have to skip the entire 2022 edition. To make matters worse, Chahar is reportedly ruled out for four months. According to a report by Times Now, the bowling all-rounder might not even be available for the T20 World Cup in 2022.

This report further states that Chahar's injury is a serious one. Thus, this more or less confirms his unavailability for the 2022 edition. Chennai have been struggling without his services. They had spent a huge amount to acquire his services during the mega auction.

It is to be noted that the yellow army have only won one out of their five games. They are currently placed ninth in the points table. Earlier, a source close to the Chennai management had stated that they weren't aware of his back injury. They also said that he has been working really hard to get fit again.

“We are not aware of this back injury. He has been working very hard to get back to shape and play again for us. But for now, he remains unavailable”, said the source close to the Chennai management. If he does end up missing this edition of the cash-rich league, then the Ravindra Jadeja-led side will have to start looking for alternatives.

As far as the T20 WC is concerned, then that is set to be held in October-November this year in Australia. It will be a huge loss if Chahar ends up missing the tournament as he was in superb form prior to his injury. Besides, he has worked on his batting, and can now feature in the XI as a proper all-rounder.
