India and England are playing the first of the three-match ODI series at London’s Kennington Oval. After winning the toss, the visitors’ skipper Rohit Sharma asked Jos Buttler’s men to bat first in the opening fixture of the series. Batting first, the English top-order completely surrendered against the bowling attack of India.

Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah completely destroyed the top-order of the World Champions. The hosts lost their five wickets only on the score of 26 runs. Out of these five wickets, the 28-year-old himself scalped four wickets. He was seeming completely unplayable for one of the world's top-class batting orders.

Jasprit Bumrah scalped the four very important wickets of England including the likes of Jason Roy, Joe Root, Liam Livingstone, and Jonny Bairstow. He completely broke the spine of the English batting lineup in the first inning. Other than Bumrah, another senior pacer Mohammed Shami has also scalped three wickets so far.

Whereas, Prasidh Krishna also claimed one scalp. At the time, this story is being written, England has scored only 103 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20.1 overs. David Willey and Brydon Carse are there in the middle with respective individual scores of 8 and 12. Brydon Carse got succumbed to Jasprit Bumrah just now.

Notably, India is playing in this match without having former skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli in the playing XI. He sustained a groin strain just ahead of the commencement of the first ODI against England.

He is also on the receiving end of criticism from many cricket experts including some former cricketers like Kapil Dev and Venkatesh Prasad. The 33-year-old could is enduring a lean form with the bat for the last couple of months.

However, India has started the ODI series with by putting immense pressure on the hosts with their bowling.

Earlier, India defeated the hosts in the three-match T20I series with a score line of 2-1. However, England managed to draw the Test series with a score line of 2-2 after winning the rescheduled last Test match against the visitors.
