The Indian team under the captaincy of regular skipper Rohit Sharma took on Sri Lanka in the first of the three-match ODI series. Both teams played this match at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The visitors won the toss and asked Rohit Sharma’s men to bat first. Riding on the brilliant opening partnership of 143 runs between Rohit and Shubman Gill followed by former skipper Virat Kohli’s brilliant century, India posted a massive total of 373 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

While chasing the target, the Sri Lankan side was struggling after losing eight wickets on the score of 206 runs. It was the moment when Islanders’ skipper Dasun Shanaka showed his intent and played an unbeaten knock of 108 runs, although this knock ended on the wrong side of the match.
