In what comes as big news, Shahid Afridi has tested positive for COVID-19. The fact that this is happening on the day of the commencement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 is a worrying sign, to say the least.
Azam Khan, who happens to be the manager of the Quetta Gladiators, confirmed the same on Thursday. According to a report by Geo News, the enigmatic all-rounder will quarantine at home following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) protocols. Thus, he will be reintegrated into the squad after seven days of quarantine and negative tests.
It is to be noted that Afridi had earlier gone to the hospital on Wednesday after seeking permission from the team management. In the meanwhile, Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq confirmed the news of the Pakistan all-rounder testing positive for the deadly virus.

However, a day earlier, Afridi had requested his franchise to release him just for a day. He cited medical and personal reasons for the same. The explosive all-rounder had told the management that he was suffering from back pain and his sister-in-law had passed away.
In the meanwhile, the seventh edition of the league is all set to see the Karachi Kings taking on the Multan Sultans in the season opener. Quetta Gladiators will be seen in action on Friday as they are slated to face the finalists of PSL 2021 Peshawar Zalmi in the second match of this edition's tournament. Thus, PSL 2022 promises to entertain its fans once again.
